Can we use Msand instead of River sand for construction purpose?

In various places in the World and particularly in India there is a deficiency of river sand. Further indiscrete mining of sand from river beds is wrong for the ecology. Hence manufactured sand(M-sand), which is nothing but cubical particles collected by crushing of rocks, has been introduced.

Note that river sand is obtained by weathering of rocks. As it is brought by river and due to weathering sand particles have rounded edges, whereas M-sand will have cubical edges.

M-sand will have a uniform size of particles and fewer impurities like silt than river sand. The colour of M-sand will be grey instead of regular golen– white colour of river sand. Several nations have added clauses in their codes for the use of M-sand. Hence people should use M-sand only.

M-Sand (crushed sand) can replace 100% river sand in a concrete mix proportion.M-Sand are manufactured by latest technology (Vertical shaft impactor nachines), they give at par results in comparison to rivers sand concrete mixes, in both fresh and hardened state.

River sand may have organic impurities and silt, M-Sand is free of both. Availability of sand throughout the year is not consistent but you can have a consistent supply of M-Sand. Please note you need to have different mix design for both.
